About me

Natalie Shiell: Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator and Parenting Educator, Mother Helper.

I decided to leave my career as a high school teacher to become a doula and childbirth and parenting educator after experiencing first hand the difference that continual support made to my birth, postpartum and parenting journey. As a mother of two young boys, I understand the need for women and birthing people to be able to make informed and evidence-based choices and to be able to advocate for themselves and their families. The path into parenthood is extraordinary and multifaceted and one course of action is not always the best for everyone. Whatever your goal, I am there to support your choices, physically, emotionally and educationally!

I am passionate about supporting women and birthing people to have satisfying birth experiences, no matter how or where the baby ends up coming into the world, and ditching the fear and negativity surrounding birth. After many years of working with women and families throughout pregnancy and birth, I realised that there was a lack of support options for new parents and I expanded my service to include postpartum and parenting support with the goal of supporting parents to establish the “village” that we are missing in the modern age.
